Who We Are
Hey there — I’m Judy Ortega, founder of Ortega Dog Training and a certified dog trainer and behavior specialist. For the past 5 years, I’ve worked with over a thousand dogs (and their humans), helping them move from stress and frustration to understanding and confidence.
I’m certified through CPDT-KA, CPDT-KSA, FFC, and PCBC, and I’m an AKC evaluator and judge, which means I’m qualified to assess temperament, award Canine Good Citizen certifications, and work with everything from basic obedience to complex behavioral issues. I specialize in cases like:

What We Do
But beyond the certifications, what really sets my training apart is the philosophy behind it.
I use a method called choice-based reinforcement, originally developed to help children learn to self-regulate. It works just as powerfully with dogs. Instead of focusing on commands and corrections, this approach teaches dogs how to think critically, make independent decisions, and become more confident — all through positive reinforcement and thoughtful setup.
The result? Training that feels less like a bootcamp and more like a conversation.
And best of all, you don’t have to be an expert to do it. My clients include first-time dog owners, families, busy professionals, seniors, and even folks who’ve “tried everything else.” If you can follow a few simple steps and reward the good stuff, your dog will do the rest.

Pricing
Training your dog shouldn’t break the bank — and it shouldn’t depend on how “bad” the behavior is. I keep things simple, transparent, and compassionate.
Every session is tailored to your specific needs — whether it’s puppy basics, reactivity, or something in between. I’ll meet you at your home or a location that works for you (and yes, that includes my driving time).
You’re welcome to schedule as many or as few sessions as you like, at your own pace. But for the best long-term results, I encourage committing to a consistent plan — so I offer discounted packages to help make that easier.

- $80 per session (any issue, any dog)
- +$25 for each additional dog from the same household (if they’d like to participate
